Whether in our business and professional or personal lives, being able to influence and persuade is a vital skill. But like many other vital skills, it is not something which can be learnt over night, it must be cultivated and honed.


In particular an entrepreneur must be able to empower their staff to help see and build their vision and persuasion is a vital tool in doing so. I share my top 3 tips to help you become more persuasive!


1) HAVE EMPATHY: Understand what drives or motivates the person you are trying to build a relationship with as opposed to bulldozing ahead with your objective.


2) APPRECIATE CONFLICTING OPINIONS: If somebody has a conflicting opinion, acknowledge it then try to show how your product eliminates their doubts. Don’t tackle them head on as they will become defensive and you will have little chance of influencing their decision.


3) APPRECIATE VS CRITICISING: Appreciation always trumps criticism. If you criticise too often, people will be working to justify themselves. Appreciate them and they will be more inclined to go above and beyond for you.
